Wires or islands in the Stranski-Krastanov growth mode? It is a matter of surface energy.

This study in collaboration with FOTON-INSA (Rennes) aims at explaining the wire-to-island shape transition in the InAs/InP(001) system by a model of equilibrium shape integrating the anisotropy of surface energies of cubic III-V materials.

Diamanoïds: A new-born in the nanocarbon family

A collaborative project between the Laboratorio Nanociencias from the PUCMM (Dominican Republic), CEMES and LPCNO (Toulouse), and the University of Manitoba (Canada) has succeeded in synthesising diamanoïds, which are nanosized sp3 carbon films with tailorable gap which occurrence was predicted in 2009 as the result from the hydrogenation of graphene films (sp2 carbon).
