| Jerky motion of screw dislocations, in prismatic planes of magnesium at -120°C (150K) |
| Author: A. Couret Description: Vertical dark lines are screw dislocations
observed in bright-field conditions, at low temperature (-120°C).
They move under the stress applied to the sample. Their motion is
typical of a "locking-unlocking" mechanism, as in beryllium.
Multiplication mechanisms by cross-slip (formation of "open
loops") can be seen at the end of the sequence. |
